Definition by Central Pollution Control Board, New Delhi: E-waste comprises of wastes generated from used electronic devices and household appliances which are not fit for their original intended use and are destined for recovery, recycling or disposal. Such wastes encompasses wide range of electrical and electronic devices such as computers, hand held cellular phones, personal stereos, including large household appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners etc.
Definition as per WEEE Directive of European Union: Electrical or electronic equipment which is waste including all components, subassemblies and consumables, which are part of the product at the time of discarding.
Definition as per USEPA, USA: Electronic products that are “near” or at the "end of their useful life" are referred to as "e-waste" or "e-scrap.
